Professional Development in Science

Plan and deliver science Professional Development for schools based on specific needs.

New workshops recently added:

Geology of Iceland:  Science Is My Specialty recently travelled to Iceland to see the amazing geology of this country.  Special workshops now available about plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes, igneous rocks, and much more!

The Island of Bermuda: Science Is My Specialty recently travelled to Bermuda to research the island’s flora and fauna, as well as learn about other science related activities there.  Special workshops now available about the Crystal Caves of Bermuda, the nature along the Bermuda Rail Trails, the formation of the islands, fish and other marine life around the island, and the coral reefs that surround the island.  Special workshops now available about the science of islands.

The Grand Canyon: Science Is My Specialty recently travelled to the Grand Canyon by train from the east coast.  Learn about the changing topography of the continental United States and how the Grand Canyon was formed.  Special workshops are available that deal with the geology of the Canyon, as well as other science related themes.

The Islands of Lake Nicaragua: Science Is My Specialty recently travelled to Nicaragua to research the volcanoes, islands in Lake Nicaragua, and the high winds in this Central American nation.  Plans are being made to build a new canal, similar to the Panama Canal, through Nicaragua.  Special workshops are now available to learn about the environmental impact such a canal might create.

Specialized “science trips” are available to the regions mentioned above.  Email for more information.

Using Children’s  Literature:  Science Is My Specialty recently added workshops using children’s literature to enhance science instruction. Learn how you can use children’s stories, such as Make Way For Ducklings, What Floats in a Moat, or the Very Hungry Caterpillar to teach science.
